Parents' perception of a child and their attitude to her illness and treatment at various stages of the oncological disease

Abstract

Данная работа посвящена проблеме детско-родительского взаимодействия в ситуации онкологического заболевания ребенка. Исследовалось отношение родителей к болезни и лечению, восприятие ими больного ребенка и взаимодействие с ним. Были выдвинуты гипотезы: 1)характеристики эмоционального состояния родителей связаны с особенностями детско-родительского взаимодействия; 2)родитель склонен воспринимать больного ребенка как слабого, зависимого, несамостоятельного; 3)состояние родителей, восприятие ими больного ребенка и взаимодействие с ним отличаются на разных этапах течения заболевания ребенка; 4)родители характеризуются низким уровнем толерантности к неопределенности. Исследовалось 29 родителей на различных этапах течения заболевания ребенка с помощью анкеты и психодиагностических методик “Госпитальная шкала депрессии и тревоги”, “Опросник детско-родительского эмоционального взаимодействия”, “Опросник толерантности к неопределенности”. Данные обрабатывались с применением описательных статистик, сравнительного и корреляционного анализа. Выявлено, что уровень тревоги родителя оказывает влияние на его восприятие ребенка, а также на характер детско-родительских взаимоотношений. Большинство родителей признают важность информирования ребенка о болезни и лечении, но не умеют это делать. Выявлены особенности отношения к болезни и лечению, восприятия ребенка, детско-родительского взаимодействия и толерантности к неопределенности на различных этапах течения заболевания ребенка.

This study is devoted to the problem of parent-child interaction in the situation of a child's oncological disease. Parents' attitudes to illness and treatment and their perception of the child were examined. We assumed that emotional state of parents is associated with the peculiarities of the parent-child interaction; there are tends to perceive a sick child as weak, dependent; parents have low level of tolerance for uncertainty; the emotional state of the parents, their perception of the sick child and interaction with him differ at different stages of the disease. 29 parents of children at various stages of cancer treatment were studied. Methods: Questionnaire, Hospital Depression and Anxiety Scale, Child-Parent Emotional Interaction Inventory, and Multiple Stimulus Types Ambiguity Tolerance Scale-I. Descriptive statistics, comparative and correlation analysis were used for data processing. It was found that the level of anxiety of a parent influences his perception of the child, as well as the parent-child interaction. Most parents recognize the importance of informing their child about illness and treatment, but they do not know how to do it right. The peculiarities of the attitude to illness and treatment, perception of the child, parent-child interaction and tolerance to uncertainty at various stages of the child's illness were revealed.
