The formation of the European Union institutions’ politics of memory of the Second World War

Abstract

В диссертационном исследовании проводится определении роли политики памяти институтов Европейского союза о Второй мировой войне в современном европейском пространстве памяти, а также характера этой политики памяти, её исторического нарратива и основных коммеморативных практик. В рамках работы рассматриваются господствующие исторические нарративы о Второй мировой войне в Европейском союзе, в т.ч. нарратив еврократов и институтов Европейского союза, устанавливаются основные институты Европейского союза, задействованные в политике памяти о Второй мировой войне, определяются её ключевые внутри- и внешнеполитические факторы, устанавливаются её цель и задачи и рассматриваются её основные проявления в направлениях политики Европейского союза. Также оценивается текущая эффективность политики памяти институтов Европейского союза о Второй мировой войне и приводятся потенциальные меры её повышения.

The master's thesis defines the role of policy of the institutions of the European Union on the World War II memory in the modern European space of memory, as well as the nature of this policy of memory, its historical narrative and basic commemorative practices. The work considers prevailing historical narratives on the World War II in the European Union, including narratives of the Eurocrates and the institutions of the European Union, sets the main institutions of the European Union that are involved in the policy of the institutions of the European Union on the World War II memory, determines its key domestic and foreign policy factors, sets its goal and objectives and considers its main manifestations in the European Union policy. It also assesses the current effectiveness of policy of the institutions of the European Union on the World War II memory and provides potential measures to increase it.
