Turkey's European integration during the Erdogan presidency

Abstract

На сегодняшний день в системе международных отношений особое место занимает Европейский Союз. До образования ЕС, союз был ЕЭС. Так за долгие годы существования сообщества европейских стран, государства смогли завязать крепкие отношения практически со всеми странами мира. По значимости для ЕС Турция стоит в одном ряду с соседней Россией и уступает США и Китаю на мировой арене. Важность Турции для Европы коренится в исторических связях между двумя сторонами, которая начинается еще с османских времен. Турецкая Республика уже долгие годы стремиться стать частью Европы. Интеграция в европейское пространство проходила разные этапы, подъемы и «откаты», которые зависели от политического курса Турции. Последние годы, а именно с 2013 в турецкой евроинтеграции заметен спад. Данная ситуация обусловлена многими причинами, нерешенными проблемами и, в частности, политикой президента Эрдогана. Президент Турции, довольно укрепился у власти в Турецкой Республике. Данная ситуация не может не отразиться на политике Турции в отношении интеграции в ЕС. Эрдоган является сильной политической фигурой, с собственными интересами и своим собственным видением будущего Турции. Так, целью данной работы, является определение основных успехов Турции в вопросе евроинтеграции, а также проблем с которыми столкнулась страна на пути евроинтеграции. Исследователь проанализировал историю взаимоотношения Турции и ЕС, раскрыл основные этапы евроинтеграции Турции, определил процедуру вступления в Европейский Союз, а также спрогнозировал дальнейшую тенденцию во взаимоотношениях ЕС – Турция, при президентстве Эрдогана.

Nowadays the European Union takes a special place in the system of international relations. Before the foundation of the EU, the Union was the EEC. Thus, over the long years of existence of the community of European countries states have been able to establish close relations with almost all countries of the world. In terms of importance to the EU, Turkey is on a par with neighboring Russia and is inferior to the United States and China on the world stage. Turkey's importance to Europe is rooted in the historical ties between the two sides that date back to Ottoman times. The Republic of Turkey has been striving to become a part of Europe for many years. Integration into the European space passed various stages, ups and downs, which depended on the political course of Turkey. In last years namely since 2013 there has been a visible decline in Turkish European integration. This situation is caused by many reasons, unresolved problems and in particular the policy of President Erdogan. Turkey`s president quite strengthened in power in the Republic of Turkey. This situation cannot but affect Turkey's policy towards integration into the EU. Erdogan is a strong political figure, with his own interests and his own vision of Turkey's future. Thus, the purpose of this work is to determine the main success of Turkey in the issue of European integration, as well as the problems faced by the country on the path of European integration. The author analyzed the history of relations between Turkey and the EU identified the main stages of Turkey's European integration, defined the procedure for joining the European Union and predicted the further trend in EU – Turkey relations during the presidency of Erdogan.
