The trade war between the United States of America and the People's Republic of China: economic and political aspects

Abstract

Данная выпускная квалификационная работа охватывает конфликт, который вспыхнул в торгово-экономических отношениях США и КНР в 2018 году и по настоящее время полностью еще не урегулирован. В научном труде рассматриваются теоретические аспекты термина «торговая война», сравниваются его определения из разных источников, а также изучаются методы ее ведения. Что касается самого конфликта между двумя государствами, то здесь исследуются основные причины его появления, сопоставляются позиции США и Китая по спорным вопросам, рассматриваются принятые ими экономические меры в ходе «торговой войны», их эффект на двустороннюю торговлю. В результате проведенного исследования было выведено собственное определение термина «торговая война», выделены ключевые способы ограничения торговой деятельности партнера и их особенности, было дано заключение на представленную критику с обеих сторон, выявлены основные периоды конфликта и их характерные черты, установлены главные причины, препятствовавшие скорейшему его прекращению.

This final thesis comprises the conflict that broke out in the trade and economic relations between the United States and China in 2018 and has not yet been fully resolved. The research paper examines the theoretical aspects of the term "trade war", compares its definitions from different sources, and also studies the methods of its conduct. As for the conflict between the two States, this academic paper examines the main reasons for its appearance, compares the positions of the United States and China on disputed issues and considers the economic measures they took during the "trade war" and their effect on bilateral trade. The research has resulted in deducing its own definition of the term "trade war", identification of the key ways to restrict the partner's trading activities and their features, conclusion on the presented criticism from both sides, identification of the main periods of the conflict and their characteristic features, and identification of the main reasons that opposed its early termination.
