The conflict in Sudanese Darfur as a factor of geopolitical instability in the East African region

В данном исследовании автором подробно изучается вооруженный конфликт в одном из западных регионов Судана, Дарфуре, вспыхнувший в 2003 году между центральным правительством Судана и повстанческими движениями Дарфура. В работе рассматриваются причины и предпосылки появления нового очага напряженности в регионе Восточной Африки, а также анализируются основные тенденции в динамике конфликта с момента его возникновения до настоящего времени. Особое внимание уделено тому, какое влияние обстановка в Дарфуре оказывает как на соседние страны, так и на Республику Судан. В рамках исследования автором была предпринята попытка оценить усилия региональных и международных акторов по стабилизации ситуации в Дарфуре и выявить ключевые факторы, препятствующие урегулированию конфликта.

The research paper examines in detail the armed conflict in one of the Western regions of Sudan, Darfur, which broke out in 2003 between the Sudanese Central government and the Darfur rebel movements. The author explores the causes and prerequisites for the emergence of a new source of tension in the East African region, as well as analyzes the main trends in the dynamics of the conflict from the moment of its occurrence to the present. Particular attention is paid to the impact of the situation in Darfur on both neighboring countries and the Republic of the Sudan. As part of the study, the author attempted to assess the efforts of regional and international actors to stabilize the situation in Darfur and identify key factors that hinder the settlement of the conflict.
