The social consequences of the transformation of E. Macron’s domestic policy

Abstract

Сегодня вопрос взаимосвязи политики и общества во Франции стоит наиболее остро. Характерным для Пятой республики является высокий уровень политической грамотности населения: с детства французов знакомят с основополагающими принципами института демократии. Именно поэтому граждане Пятой республики без колебаний готовы выразить свою гражданскую позицию, что нередко обретает форму народных протестов. Социально-политическая обстановка во Франции заметно накалилась в период пребывания Ф. Олланда на посту главы государства. Э. Макрон, как новый, «внесистемный» президент, пообещал избирателям решить накопившиеся проблемы, однако методы воплощения в жизнь оговоренных ранее целей разительно отличались от ожидаемых. В данной работе автор анализирует влияние трансформации внутриполитического курса Э. Макрона на уровень социальной стабильности в Пятой республике. В результате изучения истории и активности протестных движений в стране автор доказывает, что реформы оказали прямое воздействие на рост уровня народного недовольства новой властью и, как следствие, спровоцировали социальный кризис, острая фаза которого пришлась на 2018 – 2019 гг.

Nowadays the question of interconnection between politics and society in France stands out sharply as never before. A high level of political literacy of the population is specific to the Fifth Republic: from childhood, the French are taught to understand the fundamental principles of democracy. That is why citizens of the Fifth Republic without hesitation are ready to express their civic position, which often takes the form of popular protests. The socio-political situation in France was noticeably heated during the presidency of Francois Hollande. Emmanuel Macron, as the new, “non-systemic” president, promised the electorate to solve the accumulated problems. However, the methods for achieving the goals, chosen by the new Head of State, were very different from the expected ones. In this research the author analyzes the influence of the transformation of the domestic policy of Emmanuel Macron on the level of social stability in the Fifth Republic. As a result of the analysis of the history and activity of protest movements in the country, the author argues that the reforms had a direct impact on the increase in the level of popular discontent with the new government and, as a result, provoked a social crisis, the acute phase of which fell on 2018 - 2019.
