Dynamics of development of relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea in the first decades of the XXI century

Abstract

Дипломная работа посвящена анализу эволюции российско-южнокорейских отношений с момента их установления до 2020 года с упором на рассмотрение их состояния в XXI веке. Работа имеет научную ценность с точки зрения подведения некоторых итогов в преддверии 30-летней годовщины установления дипломатических отношений 30 сентября 1990 года. Полноты представленного в работе материала и комплексности анализа удалось достичь главным образом с помощью применения принципов историцизма и логически-концептуального анализа источников и документов, а также элементов системного и хронологического подходов. В двух главах, каждая из которых состоит из трёх параграфов, представлены результаты проведённого исследования. Первая глава сконцентрирована на рассмотрении исторического контекста становления и развития дипломатических отношений между Российской Федерацией и Республикой Корея. Отдельно по параграфам, но с учётом исторических взаимосвязей, были выделены и проанализированы три условных периода развития отношений: с момента установления первых контактов до конца XX века, первое десятилетие XXI века (2000 – 2008) и второе десятилетие XXI века (2008 – 2020). По итогу было установлено, что на данный момент между указанными государствами существуют стабильные дружественные отношения, тем не менее, ещё находящиеся на стадии становления. Вторая глава посвящена рассмотрению специфических аспектов российско-южнокорейских отношений в XXI веке, включая выделение интересов России на Корейском полуострове, анализ её роли в регулировании межкорейского конфликта, а также обозначение возможных перспектив в дальнейшем развитии двустороннего сотрудничества. Проделанная работа показала, что помимо внешних факторов, сдерживающих развитие российско-южнокорейского сотрудничества, существуют серьёзные внутригосударственные препятствия экономического и политического характера, в основном с российской стороны. Тем не менее, даже если на современном этапе потенциал российско-южнокорейских отношений не реализован в полную силу, существуют все возможности к укреплению двусторонних связей.

The thesis is devoted to analysis of evolution of Russian-South Korean relations since their establishment until 2020 with emphasis on the consideration of their condition in the twenty-first century. The work has scientific value in terms of a review of some results on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on the 30 September 1990. Completeness in the work material and complexity of analysis has been achieved mainly through the application of the principles of historicism and logical-conceptual analysis of sources and documents, as well as elements of a systematic and chronological approaches. In two chapters, each of which consists of three paragraphs, presents the results of the thesis. The first Chapter is focusing on the consideration of the historical context of the formation and development of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea. Separately in paragraphs, but taking into account historical interconnections, three conditional periods of development of relations were identified and analyzed: from the moment of first contacts to the end of the XX century, the first decade of the XXI century (2000 - 2008) and the second decade of the XXI century (2008 - 2020). In the end it was established that at the moment these States have stable friendly relations, however, still in the process of formation. The second Chapter is devoted to the consideration of specific aspects of Russian-South Korean relations in the XXI century, including the identification of Russia's interests on the Korean Peninsula, an analysis of its role in regulating the inter-Korean conflict, as well as identifying possible prospects for the further development of bilateral cooperation. The work done has shown that in addition to external factors restraining the development of Russian-South Korean cooperation, there are serious domestic obstacles in terms of politics and economy, mainly from the Russian side. Nevertheless, even if at the present stage the potential of Russian-South Korean relations is not fully realized, there are all opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties.
