Gender socialisation of children in contemporary Russian society: the case of St. Petersburg

Abstract

Выпускная квалификационная работа на тему «Гендерная социализация детей в современном российском обществе на примере Санкт-Петербурга» посвящена определению тенденций первичной гендерной социализации ребенка и влиянию на данный процесс таких социальных институтов, как семья и школа, которые актуализируются современными трансформационными процессами, демографическими переходами. В современной России недостаточно внимания уделяется проблемам социализации личности, воспитания детей, семьи и семейных отношений. Сегодня в российском обществе идёт дискуссия по поводу традиционных и современных морально-нравственных ценностей, трансформации социальных, гендерных ролей, в связи с чем проблема гендерной социализации становится как никогда актуальной. Главным и самым первым социальным институтом гендерной социализации в детском периоде является семья. Родители являются агентами, которые транслируют и прививают ребенку определенные гендерные стереотипы и воспитывают человека, как представителя определенного пола. С взрослением в жизни ребенка появляются и другие социальные институты и агенты, которые дополняют его полоролевую картину мира и способствуют дальнейшему формированию гендерной идентичности. Современное цифровое (информационное) общество ставит вопрос о траекториях изменения представлений о поле и гендере, гендерном воспитании, полоролевых моделях, а также образах мужчин и женщин, воспроизводимых медийными средствами общества глобального капитализма. Для определения сущности, особенностей и новых тенденций в процессе первичной гендерной социализации был проведен онлайн-опрос среди молодежи Санкт-Петербурга. В фокусе анализа была рефлексия нынешней молодежи мегаполиса по поводу их детства и гендерных стереотипов. Выборочную совокупность составили 185 человек в возрасте от 18 до 35 лет. Анализировались детские предпочтения респондентов, характер их занятий и интересов, характер взаимоотношений ребенка со взрослыми и сверстниками. В ходе исследования выявлено, что в современном мире граница между миром мужчин и миром женщин постепенно «стирается»; усиливается усвоение детьми андрогинных качеств; демонстрируется увеличение степени самостоятельности ребенка; прослеживается воздействие нового института – СМК и СМИ на процесс гендерной социализации.

The final qualifying work on the topic "Gender socialization of children in modern Russian society on the example of St. Petersburg" is devoted to determining the trends of primary gender socialization of children and the impact on this process of social institutions such as family and school, which are updated by modern transformational processes, demographic transitions. In modern Russia, insufficient attention is paid to the problems of socialization of the individual, upbringing of children, family, and family relations. Today in Russian society there are some discussions about traditional and modern moral values, the transformation of social and gender roles, in connection with which the problem of gender socialization is becoming more relevant than ever. The main and very first social institution of gender socialization in childhood is the family. Parents are agents who broadcast and instill certain gender stereotypes in their child and raise a person as a representative of a certain gender. As a child grows older, other social institutions and agents appear in his life that complement his gender-role picture of the world and contribute to the further formation of gender identity. Modern digital (information) society raises the question of the trajectories of changing ideas about gender and sex, sex education, gender role models, as well as a vision of a man or woman reproduced by the media of the society of global capitalism. To determine the essence, features, and new trends in the process of primary gender socialization, an online survey was conducted among the youth of St. Petersburg. The analysis focused on the reflection of the current youth in the metropolis on their childhood and gender stereotypes. The sample population was 185 people aged 18 to 35 years. The respondent's child preferences, the nature of their activities and interests, and the nature of the child's relationships with adults and peers were analyzed. The study revealed that in today's world the border between the world of men and world of women is gradually "erased"; enhanced assimilation by children of androgynous qualities; demonstrates increasing independence of the child; traces the impact of a new institution of media on the process of gender socialization.
