The issues and prospects for the interaction between Russia and the IOC in the early 21st century

Abstract

Проблемы и перспективы взаимодействия России и МОК в начале XXI века.

В диссертационной работе предпринята попытка исследовать актуальные вопросы взаимодействия Российской Федерации и Международного олимпийского комитета, проанализированы проблемы и будущие возможности их сотрудничества. В данном исследовании рассматриваются теоретические аспекты спортивной и, в частности, олимпийской дипломатии, а также комплексно характеризуется Международное олимпийское движение в его исторической ретросперспективе. В диссертации выявляется роль Олимпийского движения в системе международного гуманитарного сотрудничества, что даёт возможность оценить влияние Олимпизма на мировое сообщество за пределами олимпийских стадионов. Особое внимание уделяется внешней политике РФ, где отмечается взаимосвязь имиджевой политики с Олимпийским движением. В основе работы лежит анализ вышеупомянутых феноменов, на базе которых просматривается актуальное положение дел в сотрудничестве между РФ и МОК. В работе делается вывод, что сотрудничество РФ и МОК на данном этапе неоднозначно, оно имеет как проблемы, осложняющие взаимодействие и требующие незамедлительного решения, в первую очередь, это допинговые скандалы, так и перспективы для укрепления и развития двусторонних связей. В исследовании широко используются национальные стратегии, планы и аналитические отчеты в области развития спорта, данные международных рейтингов, официальная статистика, материалы СМИ, а также работы российских и зарубежных специалистов в области спорта и олимпийского движения.

Issues and prospects for interaction between Russia and the IOC in early 21st century.

The research is undertaken to determine current issues of interaction between the Russian Federation and the international Olympic Committee, analyzes the problems and future opportunities for their cooperation. This study examines the theoretical aspects of sports and, in particular, Olympic diplomacy, as well as comprehensively characterizes the International Olympic movement in its historical retrospect. The thesis identifies the role of the Olympic movement in the system of international humanitarian cooperation, which makes it possible to assess the impact of Olympism on the world community outside the Olympic stadiums. Special attention is paid to the foreign policy of the Russian Federation, where the relation of image policy with the Olympic movement is noted. The work is based on the analysis of the above-mentioned phenomena, on the basis of which the current state of Affairs in cooperation between the Russian Federation and the IOC is viewed. The paper concludes that cooperation between the Russian Federation and the IOC at this stage is ambiguous, it has both problems that complicate interaction and require immediate solutions, primarily doping scandals, and prospects for strengthening and developing bilateral ties. The research makes extensive use of national strategies, plans and analytical reports in the field of sports development, data from international ratings, official statistics, media materials, as well as the work of Russian and foreign experts in the field of sports and the Olympic movement.
