Critical realism: an integrative perspective of the major theoretical propositions

Abstract

В рамках настоящего исследования были поставлены проблемы, актуальные для современной теоретической социологии. Это проблемы, связанные с уточнением предметного поля, метатеоретическим анализом базовых положений интегративных парадигм, оценкой потенциала оснований интегративных парадигм в работе по концептуализации взаимоотношений между основными социологическими категориями макро- и микроуровня, разработкой аналитической схемы воспроизводства и трансформации эмерджентных свойств и состояний социальной структуры и социального действия. Базовые положения критического реализма продемонстрировали свою аналитическую гибкость при решении разнообразных задач, что говорит в пользу критического реализма как направления, в рамках которого действительно могут разрабатываться общие социологические теории, описывающие и объясняющие не только предпосылки социального воспроизводства и трансформации, но и актуальные циклы взаимовлияния макро- и микроуровней. Выявленное достоинство базовых положений критического реализма выражается в большей по сравнению с другими интегративными парадигмами устойчивостью к изменениям в социальной реальности за счёт уделённая значительного внимания концептуализации эмерджентных свойств и состояний как структуры, так и действия.

Framework of the study includes relevant problems for modern theoretical sociology. These are problems associated with refinement of the subject field, a metatheoretical analysis of the basic principles of integrative paradigms, an assessment of the potential of the foundations of integrative paradigms in the conceptualization of the relationships between the main sociological categories of the macro and micro levels, the development of an analytical scheme for the reproduction and transformation of emergent properties and states of social structure and social action. Among the results achieved within the framework of the work, it is worth noting the compilation of analytical criteria for conducting a comparative analysis of integrative paradigms for their ability to correctly describe and explain the connection moment between the macro and micro levels, refining the models of reproduction and transformation of the structure and action with the introduction of analysis of the spatiotemporal reference of their emergent states, supplementing the basic principles of critical realism by introducing the second level of emergence into the analysis of the formation of structures, drawing up a conceptual diagram of the interdependence of the cycles of reproduction and transformation of the social structure and social action using the basic principles of critical realism. The basic ideas of critical realism have demonstrated their analytical flexibility in solving various problems, which speaks in favor of critical realism as a direction within which general sociological theories can really be developed that describe and explain not only the prerequisites of social reproduction and transformation, but also the actual cycles of the interaction of macro and micro levels. The revealed dignity of the basic principles of critical realism is expressed in greater resistance to changes in social reality compared to other integrative paradigms due to the considerable attention paid to the conceptualization of emergent properties and states of both structure and action.
