Euphemisms for occupation names in Russian and Chinese

Abstract

Работа посвящена восполнению пробелов в теоретическом изучении эвфемизмов наименований профессий, а также раскрытию универсальных и национальных особенностей эвфемизмов наименований профессий в русском и китайском языках. В первую очередь были проанализированы основные теории эвфемизмов в русской и китайской лингвистике, включая определения эвфемизма, мотивы и цели эвфемизации, обязательные признаки эвфемизмов, тематические характеристики и средства формирования эвфемизмов; обобщение, сравнение и анализ теории позволяют выявить общность эвфемизмов в обоих языках и создать основу для последующих исследований. Затем теория эвфемизмов была восполнена в таких аспектах как причины использования эвфемизмов наименований профессий, функции эвфемизмов наименований профессий и их изменения; уточнены границы эвфемизмов наименований профессий и дано научное определение явлению. Другой важной частью работы является составление списка эвфемизмов наименований профессий в русском и китайском языках. На основе языковых данных в списке с помощью количественных подсчетов и анализа выявляется как общность эвфемизмов наименований профессий в русском и китайском языках, так и этносоциокультурная специфика, отражающая особенности двух разных языков и двух национальных мировоззрений.

The work is devoted to filling the gaps in the theoretical study of the euphemisms of occupation names, as well as to the disclosure of the universal and national characteristics of the euphemisms of occupation names in the Russian and Chinese languages. First of all, the main theories of euphemisms in Russian and Chinese linguistics were analyzed, including definitions of euphemism, motives and goals of euphemization, mandatory signs of euphemisms, thematic characteristics and means of forming euphemisms; generalization, comparison and analysis of the theory make it possible to reveal the commonality of euphemisms in both languages and create a basis for further research. Then the theory of euphemisms was supplemented in such aspects as the reasons for using euphemisms for occupation names, the function of euphemisms for occupation names and their changes; the boundaries of euphemisms for occupation names have been clarified and a scientific definition of the phenomenon has been given. Another important part of the work is the compilation of a list of euphemisms for occupation names in Russian and Chinese. Based on the linguistic data in the list, with the help of quantitative calculations and analysis, both the commonality of euphemisms for occupation names in the Russian and Chinese languages, and the ethnosocial and cultural specifics, reflecting the features of two different languages and two national worldviews, are revealed.
