Evaluation of the text readability level impact on the popularity of reviews on the Kinopoisk service

Abstract

Данная работа посвящена изучению влияния индекса удобочитаемости текста на русском языке на популярность рецензии к кинофильму. Материалом для исследования выступили отзывы на фильмы в сервисе «Кинопоиск». Оценка читабельности текстов была проведена с использованием следующих формул определения индексов удобочитаемости: SMOG, ARI, Coleman-Liau, Flesch-Kinkaid, Dale-Chale. Итоговый корпус отзывов содержит 3910 отзывов на фильмы и размечен с указанием синтаксических характеристик, показателей индексов удобочитаемости, популярности пользователя и рецензии. В работе представлен корреляционный анализ зависимости между показателями индексов удобочитаемости текстов отзывов и популярностью соответствующей рецензии. Корреляционный анализ проведен с использованием коэффициентов корреляции Пирсона, Спирмена и Кендалла. Проведено выделение признаков (feature selection) в целях определения важности тех или иных параметров текста отзыва в контексте влияния на его популярность, проанализированы аномалии в связях «читабельность»-«популярность». Анализ показал отсутствие корреляций между удобочитаемостью отзыва, посчитанной по указанным формулам, и его популярностью. В работе сделаны предположения о причинах отсутствия корреляции.

This paper is devoted to the study of the influence of the readability index of the Russian text on the popularity of the movie review. The material for the study was film reviews in the Kinopoisk service. The readability of the texts was evaluated using the following formulas for determining the readability indices: SMOG, ARI, Coleman-Liau, Flesch-Kinkaid, Dale-Chale. The final body of reviews contains 3,910 reviews of movies and is marked up with syntactic characteristics, indicators of readability indexes, user popularity, and review popularity. The paper presents a correlation analysis of the relationship between the indicators of the readability indices of the review texts and the popularity of the corresponding review. The correlation analysis was performed using Pearson, Spearman’s, and Kendall’s correlation coefficients. A feature selection was performed in order to determine the importance of certain parameters of the review text in the context of its influence on its popularity, and anomalies in the "readability"-"popularity" relationships were analyzed. The analysis showed no correlation between the readability of the review, calculated using the specified formulas, and its popularity. The paper makes assumptions about the reasons for the lack of correlation.
