The role of Brazil in the system of regional economic integration in Latin America: political aspects

Abstract

Цель работы - выявить ключевые политические аспекты участия Бразилии в ведущих интеграционных объединениях и процессах в Западном полушарии на современном этапе. Объектом исследования являются интеграционные процессы в Западном полушарии. Предмет исследования – политические аспекты участия Бразилии в таких интеграционных объединениях как МЕРКОСУР и УНАСУР. С учетом поставленной цели, в теоретической части работы обобщается опыт ключевых классических теории интеграции, выясняется какая из них наиболее близка к теории латиноамериканской интеграции. Далее рассмотрена роль Бразилии в таких региональных объединениях, как МЕРКОСУР, УНАСУР и ПРОСУР. В фокусе основного внимания автора – анализ ключевых препятствий на пути латиноамериканской региональной интеграции, а также возможная трансформация политической роли Бразилии в этом процессе.

The purpose of the paper is to identify the key political aspects of Brazil's participation in the leading integration associations and processes in the Western Hemisphere at the present stage. The object of the research is the integration processes in the Western Hemisphere. The subject of the research is the political aspects of Brazil's participation in such integration associations as MERCOSUR and UNASUR. To achieve its objective, the theoretical part of the work summarizes the experience of the key classical theory of integration, it turns out which of them is closest to the theory of Latin American integration. Further, the role of Brazil in such regional associations as MERCOSUR, UNASUR and PROSUR was examined. The main focus of the author is an analysis of key obstacles to Latin American regional integration and the possible transformation of Brazil’s political role in the process.
