Proverbs and sayings as a reflection of the Italian regional linguistic worldview: A case study of Piedmontese

Abstract

В работе представлено исследование пьемонтских пословиц и поговорок, как явление, отражающееся в языковой картине мира и формирующее её. Актуальность исследования заключается в малой изученности лингвистической специфики диалекта региона Пьемонт, а также в изучении пословиц и поговорок с точки зрения отражения их в региональной картине мира посредствам языка. Материалом для исследования послужили 206 пословиц и поговорк, используемых носителями общеитальянского языка и пьемонтского диалекта. Цель исследования заключается в возможности на основе изучения пословичных единиц пьемонтского диалекта определить своеобразие отраженной в них региональной (пьемонтской) картины мира по сравнению с общеитальянской. Работа состоит из введения, двух глав, заключения и списка использованной литературы, который включает в себя 42 источника. Первая глава посвящена теоретическому обоснованию понятия картина мира в лингвистике, описанию особенностей паремий и фразеологизмов, основных средств их выражения в языковой картине мира, определению роли пословиц и поговорок в формировании языковой картины мира. Во второй главе проводится классификация общеитальянских и пьемонтских пословиц и поговорок, выделяются основные языковые и бытовые сферы, характерные непосредственно для носителей пьемонтского диалекта. Данные сферы формируют языковую картину мира народа. Проводится сопоставительный анализ итальянских пословиц и поговорок с пьемонтскими на предмет нахождения в них схожих черт и различий, отражающихся в картинах мира. В заключении работы обобщаются итоги проведённого исследования.

This paper presents a research on Piedmontese proverbs and sayings as a phenomenon that is reflected in the linguistic worldview and forms it. The relevance of the research is based on the limited study of the linguistic specificity of the Piedmont dialect, as well as on the study of proverbs and sayings in terms of their reflection in the regional worldview through the language. The material for the research consists of 206 proverbs and sayings, used by speakers of the common Italian language and the Piedmont dialect. The aim of the research is to identify the specificity of the regional (Piedmontese) worldview reflected in the proverbial units of the Piedmontese dialect, as compared to the national Italian one. The research consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion and a list of bibliography consisting of 42 sources. The first chapter is devoted to the theoretical justification of the concept of the worldview in linguistics, the description of the features of proverbs and sayings, the main means of their expression in the linguistic worldview, the definition of the role of proverbs and sayings in the formation of the linguistic worldview. The second chapter classifies common Italian and Piedmontese proverbs and sayings, identifies the main linguistic and social areas, characteristic directly for speakers of the Piedmontese dialect. These areas form the linguistic worldview of the nation. A comparative analysis of Italian and Piedmontese proverbs and sayings is carried out in order to find similarities and differences reflected in the worldview. The paper concludes with a summarised outcome of the research.
