Cooperation among the BRICS countries in the area of environmental protection

Abstract

Значимость экологической повестки как для государств БРИКС, так и для мирового сообщества в целом, неукоснительно возрастает. В данной диссертации автор проводит обзор экологических проблем глобального и локального характера, являющихся актуальными для государств-членов БРИКС, а также механизмов их решения всеми пятью странами. Кроме этого, рассматриваются основные нормативно-правовые акты в рамках экологического законодательства стран БРИКС, функционирующие в настоящее время механизмы и форматы сотрудничества государств-членов объединения в природоохранной сфере. Также, автор оценивает перспективы природоохранного сотрудничества для стран БРИКС и вносит свои предложения относительно экологического сотрудничества в рамках объединения. Делается вывод о том, что наличие ряда экологических проблем, пока не являющихся предметом пристального внимания БРИКС как группы, открывает перспективы для углубления сотрудничества в данной сфере.

The importance of the environmental agenda both for the BRICS states and for the world community as a whole is steadily increasing. In this dissertation, the author provides an overview of environmental problems of a global and local nature that are relevant to the BRICS member states, as well as the mechanisms for their solution by all five countries. In addition, the main regulatory legal acts within the framework of the environmental legislation of the BRICS countries, the mechanisms and formats of cooperation between the member states of the association in the environmental sphere that are currently functioning are considered. Also, the author assesses the prospects for environmental cooperation for the BRICS countries and makes his proposals regarding environmental cooperation within the framework of the association. It is concluded that the presence of a number of environmental problems, which are not yet the subject of close attention of the BRICS as a group, opens up prospects for deepening cooperation in this area.
