Dynamic processes in the use of lexical and stylistic means of the language for the representation of military conflicts in the media

Abstract

Данная работа посвящена анализу динамических процессов в использовании лексико-стилистических средств для репрезентации вооруженных конфликтов в СМИ на примере вооруженного конфликта на юго-востоке Украины за период с 7 апреля 2014 г. по 5 сентября 2014 г. Исследование основано на текстах статей онлайн-ресурсов "Газета.ру" и "Der Spiegel", освещающих события, связанные с "украинским конфликтом". В результате проведенной работы были выявлены различные номинации сторон конфликта, а также лексические единицы и коллокации, используемые для репрезентации данного вооруженного конфликта, установлено распределение семантически наполненных и стилистически окрашенных лексем и выражений в отношении сторон конфликта в русскоязычном и немецкоязычном источниках, а также зафиксированы семантические и стилистические изменения в использовании лексико-стилистических средств, используемых для репрезентации вооруженного конфликта на юго-востоке Украины. Результатом исследования стало заключение о том, что употребление определенных лексических и стилистических средств в русскоязычных и немецкоязычных СМИ передают отношение к сторонам конфликта и к конфликту в целом, динамические изменения проявляются в расширении или сужении значений некоторых лексических единиц, неологизации и неофразеологизации, а со стороны стилистики можно наблюдать амелиоративные и пейоративные изменения в стилистической окраске лексем и различных коллокаций.

This thesis deals with the dynamic processes in the use of lexical and stylistic means of the language for the representation of military conflicts in the media, based on the military conflict in south-eastern Ukraine for the period from the 7th April 2014 till the 5th September 2014. The research is based on the articles of the online news portals “Gazeta.ru” and “Der Spiegel”, which are covering the events related to “the Ukrainian conflict”. The outcomes of this work are as followed: identification of various nominations of the parties to the conflict and the lexical units and collocations used to represent this military conflict; observation of distribution of semantically filled and stylistically connotative lexemes and expressions in relation to the parties to the conflict on Russian and German online news portals; identification and record of semantic and stylistic changes in the use of lexical-stylistic means used to represent the military conflict in the south-eastern Ukraine. In conclusion of the study it was determined, that the usage of certain lexical and stylistic means in the Russian-language and German-language media conveys the attitude towards the parties to the conflict and towards the conflict in general, dynamic changes consist in the extension or narrowing of the meanings of some lexical units, in the neologization and the neophraseologization. Concerning stylistics ameliorative and pejorative changes in the stylistic connotations of lexemes and various collocations can be observed.
