Matching of Photographic Collections of the Central Anti-Religious Museum and the Museum of the History of Religion USSR Academy of Sciences in 1930-s: Topics, Tasks and Implementation in Museums (Based on the «Photo Library» Fund of the Museum of the History of Religion)

Abstract

В работе рассмотрен «антирелигиозный музей» как институт, отразивший реалии музейного строительства 1930-х годов XX века. Анализ «антирелигиозного музея» проведен на базе сравнения и изучения фотодокументальных коллекций двух наиболее крупных музеев данного профиля периода 1930-х гг.: – Центрального антирелигиозного музея (фотоколлекции которого хранятся в Государственном музее истории религии) и Музея истории религии АН СССР. Показана взаимосвязь состава и тематики фотоколлекций указанных музеев в отмеченный период в связи с общегосударственными задачами в контексте идеологического курса, определявшего работу музеев. Проведена сравнительная характеристика фотоколлекций музеев, указаны их особенности в соответствии с выделенными в ходе изучения снимков критериями. Показана разница в подходах к экспозиционной, собирательской, научной и просветительской работы ЦАМ и МИР АН СССР на протяжении 1930-х гг. На материале фотодокументальных коллекций и опубликованных источников проанализированы сходства и различия в миссиях музеев, тематике коллекций, характере их работы. С одной стороны ЦАМ по сравнению с МИР АН СССР, был более политизирован и идеологичен, с другой - специфика реальной работы приводила к сближению музеев.

An "anti-religious museum" is considered as an institution that reflect the realities of museum history in the 1930s of the XX century. The analysis of the "anti-religious museum" was carried out based on comparison and study of two largest museums of the period of the 1930s that kind was similar: the Central Anti-Religious Museum (CAM) (photographic collections that is saved in the State Museum of the History of Religion) and the Museum of the History of Religion of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The article shows the relationship between the structures and themes of photographic collections of these museums in a remarkable time, in terms of the tasks assigned to the ideological course that defined the work of museums. A comparative characteristic of photographic collections is given, and their features are indicated in accordance with the criteria selected during the study of photographs. The article shows the difference of approaches in exhibition, collecting, scientific and educational work of the CAM and the Museum of the History of Religion of the USSR Academy of Sciences during the 1930s. Similarities and differences between missions of museums, themes of collections and the nature of their work were analyzed based on the material of photographic documentary collections and published sources. On the one hand, CAM was more politicized and ideological, in comparison with the the Museum of the History of Religion of the USSR Academy of Sciences, on the other, the specifics of real work led to a rapprochement of museums.
