Conceptual design of improvement of the Smolenka River embankment in St Petersburg

Abstract

Река Смоленка - это водная артерия, который на данный момент недостаточно развита. По некоторым источникам, покрытие зеленой зоны Васильевского острова составляет всего 10 м на одного жителя. Набережная не благоустроена и не подходит для любой городской деятельности. Рядом с набережной обозначены участки, пригодные для перепланировки: -Калининский завод (у истока реки Смоленки) -Камский сад -военное кладбище. Мои задачи: - создать непрерывные пешеходные дорожки вдоль набережной; - создать рекреационные зеленые зоны; - придать реке Смоленке узнаваемый вид.

Для того чтобы соединить каждый участок набережной, было спроектировано 2 моста. Первый, у истока реки, продолжает набережную Макарова до моста Бетанкура. Вторая продолжает 13-ю линию и соединяет Камский парк с южным берегом реки. Были открыты участки набережной, которые были незаконно приватизированы.

Спуски к воде имеют различный вид в разных частях реки: - В камском саду - ступенчатые спуски к воде, которые формируют рекреационные площадки. В чаши на этих площадках высажены водные растения, фильтрующие воду. - Спуски к воде около кладбища "остров декабристов" - каменные ступени на естественном озеленном склоне. - Набережная у завода - полукруглая площадка с видом на Малую Неву.

Благоустройство берегов Смоленки будет способствовать повышению социального статуса территории, безопасности, раскроет рекреационный потенциал набережных и улучшит городскую среду в целом. Разработанные маршруты по территории, зонирование, разработка рекреационных зон и зон завода и сада способствуют этому. Река Смоленка – украшение Васильевского острова, рекреационные возможности которой недооценены.

The river Smolenka is a water way, which at the moment is underdeveloped. According to some sourses the green area coverage of Vasilievskiy Island amounts only 10 m per resident. And it has unsealed embankment and not sutable for any urban activity. I have designated areas alongside of the embankment which are sutable for redevelopement: Kalinin factory (in the river Smolenka source), Kamsky garden, military cemetary. My tasks are: - to create continious pedestrian pathways along the embankment; - to create recreational green areas; - to give the Smolenka river recognizable appearance.

In order to connect every piece of embankment I designated 2 bridges. The first one, at the head of the river, continues Makarova embankment till the bridge of Betankur. The second one continues 13th line and connects Kamskiy park with the south bank of the river. Embankment areas which were privatized unlegally were opened.

Desents to the water have different appearance in different parts of the river: - In the Kamskiy garden - stepped slopes to the water, which form recreational areas. Water plants filtering water are planted in bowls at these sites. - Descents to the water near the cemetery "Island of the Decembrists" - stone steps on a natural green slope. - Embankment at the plant - a semicircular platform overlooking the Malaya Neva.

Improvement of the Smolenka coast will enhance the social status of the territory, security, reveal the recreational potential of embankments and improve the urban environment as a whole. Developed routes through the territory, zoning, the development of recreational zones and zones of the plant and garden contribute to this.
