Soils buried under stone mounds in the eastern part of the Leningrad region: A case study of the monument Zabel'e 1

Abstract

Во время археологической разведки в окрестностях д. Забелье (Бокситогорский район Ленинградской области) были выявлены каменные насыпи. Комплекс археологических методов не дал однозначного ответа на вопросы о происхождении этих сооружений. В работе приводятся результаты изучения хроноряда «погребенная почва – фоновая почва» с целью восстановления ландшафтных условий, которые существовали до момента сооружения каменных насыпей.

During the archaeological excavations near the village of Zabel'e (Leningrad region, Russia), some areas with unusual stone mounds were discovered. The complex of archaeological methods did not give an unambiguous answer to the questions about the genesis of these stone objects. This paper describes the results of the study of the chronosequence "buried soil - surface soil" in order to reconstruct the landscape conditions that existed before the construction of the mounds.
