Synthesis and crystal structure of thiolate-bridged dinuclear platinum(II) complexes

Abstract

Reactions of 2,2′-bipyridine platinum(II) complexes with 2-aminoethanethiol or 2,2′-disulfanediyldi-(ethan-1-amine) afforded new complexes [Pt2(μ-aet)(μ-aetH+)(bpy)2](NO3)4 · 2H2O and [Pt2(μ-aet)(μ-aetH+)· (bpy)2](NO3)4 ·5H2O and heteronuclear complex catena-[(bpy)Pt(μ-aet)Ag](NO3)2 · 3H2O (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, aet = 2-aminoethanethiol). All complexes were characterized by elemental analyses and X-ray diffraction data.
