Creating Shared Value in Global Transportation and Logistics Companies

Abstract

The goal of this research is to find out how companies create shared value in T&L industry and to what extent. This goal includes the following tasks to complete: understand how CSV is different from the previous CSR concepts and what are the benefits; specify ways to measure CSV. Empirical research: establish, which measures are taken in the CSR management in top logistics companies according to traditional division of measures in CSR, establish which measures are creating shared value according to 3 CSV dimensions, using the measurement scheme proposed. The results were the following: companies tend not to measure business effects of CSR or do not disclose this information; CSR measures were divided in 3 categories: possible to create CSV, ¨gray area¨ and not CSV. Possible CSV measures were divided in the dimensions of CSV. 86% of sample companies are applying at least one measure, which is CSV and “gray area” (these have certain business result to be related to). Due to ineffective measurement and lack of certain reporting, some measures are considered “gray area” when industrial estimates show possibility of CSV, but sample companies do not provide enough data.
