Restoration of a fragment of the holy doors from the Church of the Dormition of the Holy Virgin, the Stolbushino Skete

Abstract

В работе представлена реставрация и консервация фрагмента Царских врат иконостаса, находящегося на хранении в церкви Успения Богородицы в Столбушино. Время создания - вторая половина XVIII в., автор не известен. Материал основы: дерево (липа), левкас, масляная краска, темпера, позолота по серебру. Цель работы - реставрация и консервация фрагмента Царских врат. Задачи: укрепление сохранившегося авторского грунта, удаление поверхностных загрязнений различной степени прочности, восполнение утрат основы в обрамлении и утрат грунта в живописном изображении, придание экспозиционного вида и передача на место постоянного хранения в церковь Успения Богородицы в Столбушино.

A case study of diploma work is restoration of the fragment of the décor of the Iconostasis Holy Gate from the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Stolbushino. The Fragment is an icon of St. Mark framed with wooden carving. The object was made by unnown artist in the end of the XVIII century. It is designed in the provincial Baroque style. The materials used are: linden, gesso, gilding on silver base, oil paint, tempera. The detail is in the satisfactory condition: there are some loses in wooden framing, in authentic painting, there are latest layers, silver oxides cracks and paint flake. Treatment of the fragment consisted of: consolidation of the original gesso layer using animal glue,cleaning,reconstruction of the lost wooden elements and tonal unity using watercolors, cured gold and gum Arabic
