The work of the Burmese writer Thein Pe Myint after Burma's independence: 1948-1978

Abstract

Данная работа посвящена изучению биографии и творчества Тейн Пхей Мьина - одного из наиболее влиятельных и популярных бирманских писателей ХХ века, выдающегося политика, журналиста и общественного деятеля. В ходе исследования была рассмотрена литературная деятельность писателя после получения Бирмой(ныне Мьянмой) независимости в 1948 году, проведен анализ его творчества в этот период, а также предпринята попытка выделить особенности произведений 40-70-х гг. ХХ века по сравнению с ранним периодом творчества писателя. В качестве материалов были использованы рассказы Тейн Пхей Мьина на бирманском языке, а также переводы некоторых произведений на английский и русский языки.

This paper looks into the life and literary works of Thein Pe Myint, who is considered to be one the most influential and popular Burmese writers of the 20th century, who was also a distinguished politician, a journalist and a well-known social activist. As a part of the research the author examined Thein Pe Myint's literary works published after Burma's independence(1948), highlighted the main characteristics of his writings and tried to analyse the differences between the novels created in 40-70s and the writer's early works. The research also included reading and analysing a number of novels by Thein Pe Myint in Burmese and some works translated into English and Russian languages.
