Peasant Uprisings in China and in Russia in the 18th - 19th Centuries: Comparative-Historical Aspect

Abstract

Одним из перспективных методов исторического исследования является историчекская компаративистика, то есть сравнительно-исторический метод, позволяющий путем сравнительного анализа общие и отличительные черты в развитии разных государств и социумов. В работе анализируются причины, движущие силы, программы, этапы, и причины поражения двух самых крупных крестьянских восстаний в истории России и Китая периода позднего феодализма —— восстания 1773—1775 гг. под руководством Е. И. Пугачёва и восстания тайпинов 1850—1864 гг. во главе с Хун Сюцюанем. Оба восстания с участием других сословий (в России казаков и работных людей, в Китае —— хакка), разных народов, носили антифеодальный характер, но особенностью движения тайпинов были также борьба против маньчжурской династии Цин и иностранной интервенции. Сравнение этих двух движений позволило выявить общие и отличителиные черты социальных процессов двух разных цивилизаций.

One of the most promising methods in historical research is historical comparative method, which allows us through the comparative analysis to reveal common and distinctive features in the development of different country and societies. In this paper analyzed the causes, driving forces, programs, stages and reasons of failure about the two largest peasant uprisings in the history of Russia and China in the last few years of feudalism —— the uprising of 1773—1775 under the leadership of Pugachev and the Taiping uprising of 1850—1864 led by Hong Xiuquan. Both these uprisings with the participation of other classes (in Russia, the Cossacks and woking people, in China —— Hakka), and different nations, they all had anti-feudal nature, but the peculiarity of Taiping movement was, not only struggle against the Qing dynasty but also the foreign intervention. The comparison of these two movements made it possible to identify common and distinctive features of social processes of two different civilizations.
