Jewish Cemetery as a Memorial Site and Cultural Heritage Object

Abstract

Данное исследование посвящено рассмотрению еврейских кладбищ как мест памяти и культурного наследия. Целью исследования стало проанализировать значимость кладбищ как объектов культурного наследия, рассмотреть место кладбища в еврейской культуре, особенности надгробной символики, представления о загробной жизни, роль в сохранении исторической и семейной памяти, трансформации кладбищенского пространства. Актуальность исследования обусловлена важностью сохранения историко-культурного наследия евреев Восточной Европы, исторической памяти и изменением отношения к традиционному погребению. Для еврейского народа кладбище – особое место, значимое, почитаемое и уважаемое, место связи с историей, семьей и национальной культурой. Еврейское кладбище выступает средством сохранения памяти не только о конкретном умершем, но о народе и пережитых им событиях, то есть является «летописью» истории.

This study is devoted to the consideration of Jewish cemeteries as places of memory and cultural heritage. The purpose of the study is to analyze the importance of cemeteries as cultural heritage, to consider the place of the cemetery in Jewish culture, especially the gravestone symbols, ideas about the afterlife, the role in the preservation of historical and family memory, the transformation of the cemetery space. The relevance of the study is due to the importance of preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Jews in Eastern Europe, historical memory and changing attitudes to traditional burial. For the Jewish people, cemetery is a special place, significant, revered and respected, it's a place of connection with history, family and national culture. The Jewish cemetery serves as a means of preserving the memory not only of the specific deceased, but of the people and the events experienced by them, in other words, it is a "chronicle" of history.
