Onomastics in the text of the book by Marco Polo “The Million”

Abstract

Цель данного исследования - сделать выборку имён собственных (топонимов) в тексте книги Марко Поло "Миллион", описать их и обозначить варианты передачи на русский язык. В ходе исследования рассмотрены категории имён собственных, основные подходы к их переводу, рассмотрена ономастика как наука. Проанализирован контекст эпохи Марко Поло. Дан список наиболее интересных и трудных топонимов с вариантами перевода на русский язык.

The purpose of the study is select proper names (place names) in the text of Marco Polo's book "Million", to describe them and to identify options for their transmission to the Russian language. In the course of the study the categories of proper names, the main approaches to the main translation are considered, onomastics as a science is a science is considered. The context of the Marco Polo era is analyzed from different sides. A list of the most interesting and difficult place names with the options of translation into Russian is given.
