Political and economic crisis in Venezuela (2013–2017)

Abstract

В работе рассматриваются основные особенности политического и экономического развития Боливарианской Республики Венесуэла, предопределившие кризис 2013-2017 гг. После кончины команданте У. Чавеса в 2013 г. и проведения внеочередных выборов обстановка в стране становится все более напряженной в связи с ухудшением экономической ситуации и активизации политической борьбы. В работе освещены основные черты экономической модели, созданной в период президентства У. Чавеса. Особое внимание уделено выявлению глобальных проблем данной модели, создавших условия для начала глубокого экономического кризиса. C целью подтверждения преемственности деятельности администрации Н. Мадуро политической модели У. Чавеса ход политической борьбы между оппозицией и правительством рассматривается достаточно подробно. Автором делается попытка рассмотреть видения правительства и оппозиции касательно путей выхода из сложившегося политического и экономического кризиса. В работе делается вывод, что созданная в период президентства У. Чавеса политическая и экономическая модель содержала глубокие изъяны, создавшие условия для развития кризиса.

The research examines the main features of the political and economic development of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which predetermined the crisis of 2013-2017. After the death of Comandante H.Chavez and extraordinary elections, the situation in the country is becoming increasingly tense due to the deterioration of the economic situation and the intensification of the political struggle. The research highlights the main features of the economic model created in the period of the presidency of H. Chavez. Particular attention is paid to identifying global problems of this model, which created the conditions for the start of a deep economic crisis. In order to confirm the continuity of the activities of the administration of N. Maduro with the political model of Chavez the course of the political struggle between the opposition and the government is considered in sufficient detail. The author attempts to examine the visions of the government and the opposition regarding possible solutions to current political and economic crisis. The research concludes that the political and economic model created during the presidency of H. Chavez contained deep flaws that created the conditions for the development of the crisis.
