Strategic leadership in turbulent environments: Case study of Sberbank

Abstract

The overall goal of the paper is to identify the key aspects of strategic leadership, that are of particular importance for the companies operating in turbulent environments, and to illustrate how these aspects can be put into practice. Based on the theory review SIT Framework, that comprises of strategic competence and discipline, innovation excellence and transformational execution platform, was chosen for further empirical analysis on the case company – Sberbank. The findings, brought by the empirical study, confirmed most of the theoretical propositions and in particular revealed the importance of the following aspects: clear vision and constant management of meanings, continuous monitoring of the strategy and scanning of the environment, employee empowerment, constant organizational learning and motivational nature of leadership.
