Strategic role of reverse logistics in manufacturing companies

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to explain strategic role of Reverse logistics for manufacturing companies located in Russia from Resource-Based View perspective. Research work investigates the environmental factors determining resource commitment to reverse logistics. The aim of empirical part was to reveal how international exposure, length of product lifecycle, demand predictability, frequency of new product introduction and type of produced product impact resource commitment to reverse logistics. The findings, brought by the empirical study, confirmed most of the theoretical propositions, pointing to the importance of international exposure and frequency of new product introduction in determination of strategic role of reverse logistics.
