The woman in the Ancient Egyptian family of the Middle Kingdom

Abstract

В работе дается общая характеристика социально-правового статуса женщины и свойственных ей занятий в древнеегипетской семье эпохи Среднего царства. Помимо административных и юридических документов, для анализа были использованы художественные тексты, в которых отображен образ женщины и представления о ней самих египтян, а также элементы внутреннего оформления гробниц. Наиболее значимые для исследования тексты были детально проанализированы, а также снабжены иероглифической транскрипцией, транслитерацией и переводом на русский язык.This work offers a comprehensive overview of social and legal status of women and their typical occupations within Ancient Egyptian families during the Middle Kingdom. It draws on a variety of sources, including administrative and legal documents, as well as literary texts which reflect the image of women and the Egyptians' perceptions of them. Additionally, the study examines elements of tomb interior design and especially scenes devoted to everyday activities. The analysis of the most significant texts is accompanied by hieroglyphic transcriptions, transliterations, and translations into Russian.
