Abstract
Today, the armed conflict in Yemen is spoken and written much less often than about the civil war in Syria. Meanwhile, in terms of its intensity, the conflict in the south of the Arabian Peninsula is comparable to the events in Syria, and in terms of the number of parties involved in it, it even surpasses the Syrian conflict. The causes of the conflict lie in political disunity, a weak economy, low living standards of the population, mass unemployment, religious and confessional contradictions and the events of the Arab Spring, which swept across the countries of the Arab world in 2011. The conflict in Yemen, which began in the Arab Spring in 2011, has not faded for ten years and has gone through all stages from peaceful protests to full-scale civil war with major regional players involved in it, such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, supported by the United States. This research, using the method of analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematization, hypothetical method and historical method, aims to study the causes and consequences of the civil war in Yemen in the context of socio-political and confessional contradictions. The research is based both on the works of Russian and Arab researchers devoted to the Yemeni conflict, and on sources in Russian and Arabic.
