Abstract
This master’s thesis deals with the main problems faced by Muslim immigrants during the integration into the multicultural and secular society of Canada and the Commonwealth of Australia. Particular attention is paid to such integration indicators as economic, demographic and social constituents of the living standards of the Muslim community, as well as their participation in the public and political life of the host state. The paper looks separately at the conflicts arising from the clash of Islam with the rest of the multicultural society of Australia and Canada, which takes the form of Islamophobia and has a significant impact on the Muslims’ integration. The Muslim community has a significant and ambiguous impact on both the socio-political and religious situation in Canada and the Australian Union, while non-Muslim society actively participates in the debate and divides into supporters and opponents of the Muslim population, thereby undermining the foundations of multiculturalism.
