Y. A. Philiptschenko, the founder of the national school of genetics

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the life, scientific biography and pedagogic activities Y. A. Philiptschenko, a Professor of Petrograd (Leningrad) University, a talented researcher, a scientist of profound encyclopaedic knowledge, and the founder of the first national department of genetics and experimental zoology. Y. A. Philiptschenko was the author of the first textbooks on heredity and variability of organisms, which were republished several times, end unique guidebooks on genetics of particular species and the history of development of the evolutionary concept in biology and experimental zoology. In a relatively short period of his scientific activities Y. A. Philiptschenko established the school of his disciples and scientific followers.

В статье приведена биография, рассмотрена научная и педагогическая деятельность профессора Петроградского (Ленинградского) университета Юрия Александровича Филипченко, талантливого исследователя и широко эрудированного ученого, создателя первой в п:нпсн стране кафедры генетики и экспериментальной зоологии. Перу Ю. А. Филипченко принадлежат первые учебники о наследственности и изменчивости организмов, выдержавшие несколько изданий, а также труды по генетике отдельных видов, истории развития эволюционной идеи в биологии и экспериментальной зоологии. За сравнительно недолгий период научной деятельности Юрий Александрович создал школу своих учеником и научных последователей.
