dc.description.abstractThe results of experimental studies of the hermaphrodite flower of Fragaria elatior Ehrh. (Mila n variety) are described. This variety was shown to be highly heterozygous wit h respect to the factors controlling the fertility of gynaeceum. The results of crosses of forms wit h bisexual (Mila n variety) and unisexual (Shpanka variety) flowers suggest that not only the nucleus, but the plasma as well participates in the determination of the hermaphroditic type of flower. The problem is discussed of the elementary genetic processes that have determined the reversion of some forms of strawberries to the secondary hermaphroditism.en_GB
