dc.description.abstract	The article compriscs a suryey of the data on the cytoplasmic male sterility (cms) in maize that have been published up to the present time in the Soviet and foreign literature (over 40 publications). The typesof cms known at present are described. The problems of the inheritance and of the modifications of cms are discussed and the data are ехposed on the cytological and physiological characteristics of the forms with cytoplasmic male sterility as well as on the use of cms in selection.	en_GB
