Restoration of a painting fragment on the door leaf in the Green Living Room of the Nabokov museum

Abstract

В реставрации находится дверь начала 20 века Зеленой гостиной дома Набоковых. Вся поверхность была покрыта белой масляной краской. Послойные расчистки и пробы показали, что на дверном полотне имеется 5 поздних слоёв белой краски нескольких разных оттенков, 1 слой темно-зеленых записей и 1 авторский слой оливкового цвета. Различные исследования дали много информации о количестве, оттенке и структуре слоёв. Были проведены: укрепление, расчистка авторского красочного слоя от записей, открыт авторский красочный слой и авторский живописный слой. На данный момент вся поверхность двери расчищена и мы можем сказать, что её сохранность неудовлетворительная, так как имеется большой процент утрат.

There is a door panel fragment from the beginning of the 20th century in restoration from the Green living room in the Nabokov`s museum. Whole surface has been covered with a white oil paint. Clearing and tests have shown that on a door panel fragment there are 5 late layers of white paint of various shades, 1 late layer of the dark green paint and 1 author's olive green color layer. Different researches have shown a lot of information about amount, hue and structure of layers. There were performed such treatments as consolidation, removal of late layers from of the original layer, revealing the original layer and the original paintings. At this moment we can say that the whole surface of the door is revealed from the late layers and condition of the original layer is not satisfying because of the great amount of losses.
