Current trends in the use of anticonvulsants in psychiatric practice

Abstract

The goal of the review article is to examine current trends in psychiatric practice regarding the use of anticonvulsants that are not related to the treatment of bipolar disorder. The article provides a brief description of the main characteristics of this class of drugs and discusses findings of international studies on the major anticonvulsants. The summary of the results of large meta-analyses as well as open data of studies with a small number of participants demonstrates the main trends in scientific research on the subject. Refs 55.
