The article determines the specificity of the political-ethical concept of N. Danilevsky, which is analyzed from the point of view of its inclusion in the author’s theory of cultural-historical types, as well as more general political and ethical tradition of Russian philosophical thought. Emphasis is placed on the presence of the theme of “Machiavellianism” in the political ethics of the Russian philosopher and journalist. The author concludes that the concept of Danilevsky’s political ethics, being focused on the area of foreign policy, had as its core in the principles of effectiveness and moral appropriateness first clearly articulated in the context of the political philosophy N.
