Education in the field of international relations in Russia

Abstract

The article is devoted to problems of teaching international relations in Russia. It shows how the teaching of international relations was in the country in the era of the Soviet Union. The features of those times are observed. They became the starting point for the development of the teaching of international relations in new Russia. It indicates that a quarter of a century since the formation of Russia as an independent state it was made quite a lot of restructuring of the IR teaching in the country. First of all, from the sphere, which involved a relatively small group of people in Moscow IR teaching has spread to various regions of Russia. This was a considerable merit of St. Petersburg University, opened the first faculty on international relations outside of Moscow. The article shows that not all the problems and challenges faced by Russia in teaching of international relations are resolved. In particular, one of the most important tasks today is to stimulate debate on these issues. Refs. 13.
