Philosophy and journalism as discursive practices: opposition and convergence

Abstract

Philosophy and journalism are considered in this article as versions of discursive practice which in many indications are opposed each other. In such conditions, the possibility of the occurrence such discipline as ‘the philosophy of journalism’ appears rather problematic. At the same time the history of philosophy gives many examples of a successful combination of these opposites: K. Marx, V. Rozanov, M. Foucault. Special attention is spared for the concept of ‘analytical reporting’, to which M. Foucault repeatedly came back in his writings. Representation about philosophy as an open system can serve the fruitful basis for rapprochement of discursive practice of philosophy and journalism. Refs 11.
