Videoart's influence on contemporary independent cinema: Narrative structures, body, character

Abstract

В работе исследуется влияние видеоарта на современный авторский кинематограф. Взаимодействие видеоарта и кинематографа рассматривается в трех аспектах: через анализ повествовательных структур, концепции телесности и типа героя. Анализ совершается на примере фильмов американского режиссера Хармони Корина, чьи работы, по мнения автора, являются примером того, как форма кинематографа изменяется под воздействием современной визуальной культуры.

In this paper, the author analyzes the influence of video art on contemporary independent cinema. An interaction of cinema and video art is seen in three different aspects. We explore the influence of video art on narrative structures of cinema, body concept and type of character. The research is based on the films of a modern American director Harmony Korine. The author claims that Korine’s movies represent the changes in cinema language influenced by contemporary visual culture.
