A history of the nuclear power industry in the Republic of Korea

Abstract

В работе исследуется опыт Республики Корея как страны, сумевшей стать одним из ключевых игроков на мировом рынке ядерно-энергетических технологий. История развития атомной энергетики в РК рассматривается комплексно с вниманием к историческому контексту и внешним факторам на каждом этапе становления отрасли. Особое внимание уделено ключевым событиям, начиная от сотрудничества с иностранными компаниями при строительстве первых южнокорейских ядерных реакторов и заканчивая экспортом южнокорейских технологий в сфере "мирного атома" во втором десятилетии XXI века.

The paper examines the experience of the Republic of Korea as a country that has succeeded in becoming one of the key stakeholders in the global nuclear technology market. The history of the development of the nuclear energy in the Republic of Korea is considered in a comprehensive manner with focus on the historical context and external factors at each stage of the industry's development. Special attention is drawn to the key events ranging from the cooperation with the foreign companies in the construction of the first South Korean nuclear reactors to the export of South Korean technologies in the field of peaceful nuclear development in the second decade of the 21st century.
