Ecological and geographic variations in spruce in the north-west of the European part of Russia

Abstract

Выявлены некоторые особенности географической изменчивости ели на северо-западе европейской части России (Мурманская область, Республика Карелия и Ленинградская область). В пределах этой территории при движении с севера на юг увеличивается большинство абсолютных морфологических параметров еловых шишек, изменяется форма семенных чешуй. В этой изменчивости проявляется таксономическая дифференциация ели. В окрестностях Санкт-Петербурга различия между близко расположенными популяциями малы.

На территории России не наблюдается сходства между географической изменчивостью формы семенных чешуй шишек ели и действующим лесосеменным районированием.

Some features of the geographical variability of spruce in the North-West of the European part of Russia (Murmansk region, Republic of Karelia and Leningrad region) have been identified. On this territory most of the absolute morphological parameters of spruce cones increase from north to south. The shape of seed scales is also different in the north and in the south. This variability is connected with the taxonomic differentiation of spruce. In the vicinity of St. Petersburg, the differences between closely located populations are small.

On the territory of Russia, there is no similarity between the geographical variability of the shape of the seed scales of spruce cones and the current forestry seed zoning.
