The article examines the currently topical issues of providing guarantees to women and employees with family responsibilities, with an emphasis on teaching staff. The purpose of the article is: to identify gaps in legislative regulation when providing additional days off from work for teaching staff from among the teaching staff; providing guarantees to teaching staff regarding competitive filling of positions and passing certification; suggestions were made to improve legislation in this area. Issues arising in practice when giving a woman maternity leave are considered. Situations when a woman does not initiate the granting of this leave were analyzed, a study was carried out on the need for maternity leave, or this is the right and desire of the woman herself. The article also touches upon the problems of granting parental leave until the child reaches the age of three years, not only to the mother, but also to the father of the child, as well as to another relative who is actually caring for the child. Considerable attention is paid to the use of women’s labor in heavy work and work with harmful working conditions, the list of heavy work and work with harmful and (or) hazardous working conditions is analyzed, where it is prohibited to attract women to work, which is currently in force in the Republic of Belarus. In this regard, the problematic issue of discrimination in labor relations on the basis of sex is raised. The conclusion contains a number of proposals and recommendations for improving legal acts that do not directly relate to the regulation of the labor of women and workers with family responsibilities, but are directly related to the provision of benefits to this category of workers.en_GB
