The studies of I. P. Mordvinov in the archive of Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences

Abstract

This article considers the studies of Isaaky Petrovich Mordvinov that are kept in St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and which are connected with his scientific and educational activities. The significant fact is that I. P. Mordvinov (1871–1925) used to be the distinguished historian of Tikhvin Region, the teacher and the public figure. The main goal of the article is to present the historical sources that help to form the more holistic impression and assessment of his heritage in historiography. The existing sources are really vast in their volume and have not been comprehensively studied yet. Besides, their variety affords us to make a conclusion about the versatility of Mordvinov’s interests and about his essential input to Russian historiography. Refs 22.
