Modernist tendencies in Leyb Naydus's poetry

Abstract

Данная выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена проблеме модернизации литературы на идише на примере творчества поэта Лейба Найдуса. Начало XX века является переломным периодом в истории еврейской литературы на идише. Отказ от прежней традиции, возникновение новых тем и сюжетов, новых образов и форм, выстраивание нового литературного языка – все эти признаки модернизма были характерны и для еврейской литературы на идише того периода. Еврейские писатели и поэты, находясь под влиянием творчества представителей мировой литературы, стремились отделить себя от предстоящей литературной традиции и утвердить новые начала в сфере языка и литературы. Одним из первых, кто начал процесс модернизации литературы, был Лейб Найдус, ставший одним из представителей новой поэзии на идише. Находившись под влиянием французских и русских поэтов мирового уровня, он ставил своей целью отказ от прежних литературных традиций, что в результате привело к возникновению новых аспектов формы и содержания. Так, в данной работе рассматриваются особенности формирования, развития и проявления модернистских тенденций в поэзии Л. Найдуса, а также делается акцент на роли его творчества в контексте еврейской литературы и еврейской культуры в целом.

My graduation work is devoted to the problem of modernization of Yiddish literature by the example of the poetry of Leib Naydus. The beginning of XX century is a crucial period in the history of Yiddish literature. There are some features which were characteristic of modernism of Yiddish literature. It is a rejection of the old tradition, the emergence of new themes and subjects, new shapes and forms, building a new literary language. Jewish writers and poets being in the light of creativity representatives of world literature sought to separate themselves from the upcoming literary tradition and to approve the new beginning in the field of language and literature. One of the first who began the process of modernization of the Yiddish literature was Naydus Leib, who became one of the representatives of the new poetry in Yiddish. Being under the influence of the French and Russian world famous poets, he had an aim to abandon the old literary traditions, which resulted in the emergence of new aspects of form and content. In this senior thesis I will contemplate the features of the formation, development and manifestations of modernist trends in poetry of Leib Naydus, furthermore, I want to emphasize the role of his work in the context of Yiddish literature and Jewish culture on the whole.
