Investigation of permutation tests power for testing hypotheses of two distributions equality

Abstract

В работе исследуется недавно предложенный новый критерий для проверки гипотезы о равенстве двух распределений. В ней представлены аналитические результаты, полученные предыдущими исследователями, а также проведено численное изучение метода. С помощью стохастического моделирования произведено сравнение мощности нового теста с другими широко используемыми критериями, обнаружено, что тест очень эффективен в случае распределений, отличающихся в параметре масштаба, а также в случае распределений с тяжелыми хвостами, таких как распределение Коши.

The paper is devoted to investigation of a recently proposed new criterion for testing the hypothesis of equality of two distributions. It presents the analytical results obtained by previous researchers, as well as a numerical study of the method. Using stochastic simulations, the power of the new test is compared with other widely used criteria, and it is found that the test is very powerful in the case of distributions that differ by the scale parameters, as well as in the case of distributions with heavy tails, such as the Cauchy distribution.
