The role of festivals in cultural cooperation between Russia and Great Britain at the beginning of the 21st century

Abstract

Настоящая работа посвящена фестивальному сотрудничеству России и Великобритании в начале XXI века. Автор ставит целью выявление роли фестивалей в культурном сотрудничестве двух стран в указанный период. В соответствии с данной целью были выявлены и проанализированы фестивали российской культуры, прошедшие с 2000 по 2019 годы в Великобритании, и фестивали британской культуры – в России. Кроме этого, в рамках работы были рассмотрены «перекрестные» Годы России и Великобритании, представляющие собой новый формат многожанровых фестивалей. В результате был сделан вывод о том, что благодаря фестивалям в рассматриваемый период культура России была многогранно представлена в Великобритании, а культура Великобритании была всесторонне представлена в России. Также было сделано заключение, что проведение фестивалей позволило поддерживать диалог между странами в условиях кризиса политических отношений между ними в последние годы и способствовало увеличению связей между людьми.

The paper is dedicated to the festival cooperation between Russia and Great Britain at the beginning of the XXI century. The author aims to identify the role of festivals in cultural cooperation between the two countries during this period. In accordance with this goal, the festivals of Russian culture, which took place from 2000 to 2019 in the UK, and festivals of British culture in Russia has been identified and analyzed. In addition, the paper includes the analysis of the Years of culture between Russia and Great Britain, which are a new format of multi-genre festivals. As a result, it has been concluded that, thanks to the festivals, Russian culture was thoroughly represented in Great Britain, and British culture was comprehensively represented in Russia during the given period. It has also been inferred that the implementation of festivals has made it possible to maintain a dialogue between countries in the context of a crisis of political relations between them in recent years and has helped to increase connections between people.
