Human rights as central point of the problem of environmental protection

Abstract

The degree of human progress is determined not only by the level of development of the productive forces and modes of social production, but also by the degree of humanity’s ability to systematise fundamental problems of life and find the best way to address them for the benefit of all humankind. Some of these problems are to maintain the purity of the surrounding living world environment, and consequently the life of humankind, as well as an understanding of ecology as a set of conditions, guaranteeing sustainable development on the planet Earth. Nature itself leads people to treat the environment with increasing attention. Evidence of this can be found in the dozens of international meetings, discussions and agreements on norms and rules of a relationship to nature. The strict rule “do not soil where you live” applies equally well to the common home of humankind. The article traces the evolution of people’s relationship to the environment, and examines the factors that led states to develop a new Framework Convention on climate with commitments of the countries for periods up to 2030 and 2100, designed to replace the current Convention and the Kyoto Protocol to it.
