dc.description.abstract	In the article, the phenomenon of mimicries to Muhammad the Prophet by African religious leaders of XVIII–XX centuries is investigated. It is noted that the paedagogical component played the leading role in the formation and evolution of the prophetic movements. The society was being reformed both political (the Muridiyya Sufi order) and military ways (different jihadist movements).	en_GB
